A young 14-year-old singer performed an inspirational song on ‘Canada’s Got Talent.’ Her name is Shea, and she is from Vancouver. She has been singing her whole life, and she immigrated from Hong Kong when she was four years old.
She dedicates her rendition of “Like My Father” to her parents. Shea expresses that she admires their relationship and wants a life just like their family. They are genuinely in love, and it shows.
Her parents are her role models, and she cares deeply for them. Shea doesn’t see her father much because he works in China, but he is very supportive of her music dreams.
Shea describes music as a way to express her emotions. She feels ready for the competition, but she is very nervous. She sits on a stool to play an all-black acoustic guitar. Shea finger-picks the guitar and begins to sing the song, ‘Like My Father.’
The audience is immediately hooked, and the judges are surprised by Shea’s voice. Judge Lilly stands up midway through and gets the audience to clap along to the strums from the guitar.
Shea’s mom is backstage crying as everyone loves her daughter’s performance. After the song, Howie says, ‘You have an amazing voice. There are people older than you that come on this stage and can’t deliver!’
Howie asks her, ‘What is your biggest hope?’ Shea says, ‘I definitely want to get into the next round!’ Howie replies, ‘Do you believe that dreams come true?’ He starts to make his way over to the ‘Golden Buzzer,’ saying, ‘Your dreams are about to come true!’ Howie strikes the buzzer, and golden confetti flies across the audience and stage. Shea’s mom joins her on stage, and Howie tells them that she will be a big star!
